The international period in February has been very exciting with great games and big surprises.

 

WORLD CUP QUALIFICATIONS




Haïti, Portugal and Panama took the last 3 places for the WORLD CUP 2023, joining Philippines, Vietnam, Morocco, Zambia and Republic of Ireland as debutants in the tournament !

Haïti is qualified to the 2023 Australia/New Zealand Women’s World Cup ! It is their first time in the competition with a really big team, Melchie Dumornay scored the two goals against Chile and the IFFHS Best Woman Goalkeeper of the World, Christiane Endler, her next teammate in Lyon !

Melchie Dumornay, 19 year old, ended her country’s 49 year World Cup wait (Haïti have appeared in the final stage of the men’s FIFA World Cup on one occasion in 1974 ) and made History for the women’s team in the process. It creates a busy month of July for the midfielder, who is set to join Olympique Lyon in five month’s time before she returns with Haïti for the World Cup tournament ! Haïti joins England, Denmark and China in the Group D and represent so with Jamaica the Caribbean in the World Cup 2023.

Carole Costa’s dramatic late winner sends Portugal to the World Cup against Cameroon. Portugal joins USA, Vietnam and Netherlands in the Group E.

Lineth Cedeno scored the winning goal for Panama against Paraguay . Panama joins  France, Jamaica and Brazil in Group F.

 

 

TOURNAMENTS

 

·    USA won the Shebelieve’s Cup before Brazil. It was the moment to honor Alex Morgan for her 200th international cap ! She scored there her 121th international goal and gave her 49th assist !



·    England won sovereign the Arnold Clark Cup before Belgium.

·    Mexico won the Revelation’s Cup before Colombia because of less yellow cards (5 points each, 3-2 each)

·    France won the Tournoi de France before Denmark.

·    Finland won with 16 goals in 3 games the International Cyprus Tournament before Croatia.

·    Iceland won the Pinatar Cup before Wales.

·    Kosovo and Slovenia were crowned champions at the Turkish Women’s Cup
