FLICK THE BEST !

Just over a year after succeeding Niko Kovac as interim coach, Hansi Flick has now coached his 58th competitive match in charge of Bayern Munich when they won in Leverkusen last week.

It's been 12 months of unparalleled success that have seen Germany's most decorated club bolster their trophy collection numerous times, break all sorts of records and sweep aside almost all comers at home and abroad.

The stats :

-      58 Games

-      50 Wins

-      5 Draw

-      3 Loss

-      5 TITLES in 2020 (UEFA Champions League Winner, UEFA Super Cup winner, Bundesliga title, DFB German Cup winner, Germany’s Champions Trophy)

-      181 Goals scored

It was no surprise to see « Hansi «  Flick become THE IFFHS WORLD’S BEST CLUB COACH of the Year 2020 before other German coach Jürgen Klopp ! But it was a surprise to see him become only second World’s Coach at the FIFA Best Votings behind Jürgen Klopp … No Coach in the World has realized what Flick has done in 2020 !

MESSI BETTER THAN PELE = 644

After equaling last week against Valencia, Lionel Messi has beaten yesterday Pelé’s record for the most goals recorded for the same club : 644 for FC Barcelona (Messi) , 643 for FC Santos (Pelé).

Lionel Messi reached a new landmark by scoring against Villareal when the 33-year-old scored after one of his fantastic actions.

It beated the mark set by Brazilian great Pele for Santos before he left for New York Cosmos in 1974. Messi’s goals have come in 749 matches, an average of one every 1.16 games; Pele’s came in 757 matches at one every 1.17 games.

On July 1, in a 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid, Messi scored the 700th goal of his professional career – club and internationals combined . More than 15 years have passed since Messi opened his goal account with Barcelona. It was on May 1, 2005, against Albacete in La Liga in a 2-0 win.

In all, he has 681 goals in 802 appearances with Barcelona, if goals scored in ‘unofficial’ matches are also counted. The six-time Ballon d’Or winner is comfortably the club’s leading scorer, ahead of Cesar Rodriguez’s 230 goals, as well as in the history of the Spanish Championship. Messi also has won the most titles with the Catalan club – 34, including four Champions Leagues.

Matching Pele’s record has a strong resonance for the Argentinian star, coming just three weeks after the death of his compatriot and fellow icon Diego Maradona.

Josef Bican with the IFFHS Award of THE XXth CENTURY WORLD'S BEST GOAL SCORER with 805 goals (1931-1955)

With 757 goals scored in official matches throughout his career, Pele is still ahead of Messi (715) and Ronaldo (756) in the total number of career club and national team goals. If just official matches are considered, the Brazilian is still behind Austrian and Czechoslovak striker Josef Bican, who scored 805 goals in his career which spanned three decades.
