DREAM TEAM - MIDFIELDERS
This year 2020, the BALLON D'OR was cancelled because of the COVID 19 but France-Football, the magazine of World Football, decided to make an Operation DREAM TEAM, considering in each position (1-3-4-3) the Best players of the History. A difficult work because of the many great players that the World Football has seen since so many years. (since 1950 we have more informations and statistics about the football). Before it was a great work that the IFFHS has done and continue to publish.
The IFFHS has taken in consideration the nominees in each position of the BALLON D'OR DREAM TEAM and will give the informations about the Awards and distinctions of the nominees by IFFHS in the last years. After the Goalkeepers and the Defenders, today the Defensive and Offensive Midfielders.
- Sergio BUSQUETS (Spain)Â won the IFFHS Award of THE CLUB WORLD RANKING 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2015 with FC Barcelona.
- DIDI (Brazil) was ranked 19th in the 20TH CENTURY WORLD PLAYER Ranking.
- Steven GERRARD (England) won the IFFHS Award of THE CLUB WORLD RANKING 2001 and 2005 with FC Liverpool and also the IFFHS Award of THE MOST POPULAR PLAYER in Europe.
- Pep GUARDIOLA (Spain) won the IFFHS Awards of THE CLUB WORLD RANKING 1997 (player), 2011 and 2012 (coach) with FC Barcelona and also the IFFHS Awards of THE WORLD'S BEST CLUB COACH 2009 and 2011.
- Lothar MATTHAUS (Germany) was ranked 15th in the 20TH CENTURY WORLD PLAYER Ranking and was chose in THE IFFHS LEGEND PLAYERS List Phase 1.
- Andrea PIRLO (Italy) won the IFFHS Awards of THE CLUB WORLD RANKING with Inter Milan 1998 and AC Milan 2003.
- Fernando REDONDO (Argentina) won the IFFHS Award of THE CLUB WORLD RANKING 2000 with Real Madrid
- Frank RIJKAARD (Netherlands) won the IFFHS Awards of the WORLD'S BEST CLUB COACH 2006 and of THE CLUB WORLD RANKING 2009 with FC BarcelonaÂ
- Clarence SEEDORF (Netherlands) won the IFFHS Award of THE CLUB WORLD RANKING 1992 with Ajax Amsterdam
- Xabi ALONSO (Spain) won the IFFHS Awards of THE CLUB WORLD RANKING 2005 with FC Liverpool and 2014 with Real Madrid
- XAVI (Spain) won the IFFHS Awards of THE WORLD'S BEST PLAYMAKER 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 - and the IFFHS Awards of THE CLUB WORLD RANKING 1997, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2015 with FC Barcelona
- Andrea PIRLO, Frank RIJKAARD and XAVI were chosen in the IFFHS LEGEND PLAYERS List Phase 1 and 2
- Roberto BAGGIO (Italy) won the IFFHS Awards of THE CLUB WORLD RANKING with Juve 1993, Milan AC 1995 and Inter Milan 1998
