AFCON - LONGEST SCORING SPAN

AFCON: longest scoring spans

Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (picture), set a new record in AFCON, when he scored on 28 December 2025 in a 2-3 loss against Mozambique, 13 years 339 days after his first goal on 23 January 2012 in a 2-0 win against Niger.
Aubameyang is now the player with longest scoring span in the history of cometition. He surpassed the former record holder, Zambian Kalusha Bwalya, by just 9 days.
Unfortunately, the tournament was marked for “Auba”not only by this record, but also by scandalous expulsion from the national team.
Details are in the ranking below. Algerian Riyad Mahrez is another one who entered the top 10 scoring spans during this edition.
