Morocco end their record winning run
Morocco’s 19-game winning run, world’s longest ever in history of this kind, came to an end on 26 December by a 1-1 draw in an Africa Cup of Nations group stage clash against Mali.
Earlier this year (on 14 October), the Atlas Lions surpassed the former world record of Spain (15 consecutive wins between June 2008 and June 2009).
Walid Regragui’s team remained all-winning since June 2024, so their historic run spanned more than 18 months. Remarkably, in the last 10 games of the series, they didn’t concede goals.
At the same time, Morocco failed to beat another world record, for consecutive wins in competitive games, that belongs to Germany: 15 between July 2010 and June 2012. Morocco stopped at 14 such wins (other 5 were gained in the friendlies).
To clarify, in the mentioned statistics, only results of the main national team of Morocco were taken into account, unlike those of an alternative Morocco’s team, composed of players from their domestic league and managed by other coach. This later team was also active in 2025 representing the nation at the African Nations Championship in August and the Arab Cup in December.
