Champions League statistics: league stage, round 4 (November 4)

Paris St. Germain vs Bayern 1-2


*Bayern became the first club in history to win three consecutive matches at the Parc des Princes against PSG in the Champions League.

*PSG trailed by two goals at halftime of a Champions League match at the Parc des Princes for the first time since 14 September 2004, against Chelsea (also 0-2).

*This match is the first ever between the two top placed teams of the UCL table since the introduction of the league phase. 

*Bayern started the season with 16 consecutive wins across all competitions: a record for the top five European leagues.

*Luis Díaz became just the second player to score twice and be sent off in a Champions League match (after Antoine Griezmann on 19 October 2021 for Atlético Madrid against Liverpool, 2-3), and the first who did so within a single half-time.

*Joshua Kimmich held his 100th game in UCL achieving 71st win in them. He has win most games of his first 100 than any other player in the competition history (the next: David Alaba with 70 wins, Robert Lewandowski with 67).

*Marquinhos has played his 116th international match with PSG, making him the most experienced player with French clubs ahead of Steve Mandanda (115, of which 101 with Marseille, 14 with Rennes).

Liverpool vs Real Madrid 1-0

*It is Real Madrid's first match this season in which they failed to score and first match in which they never held a lead.

*Of 7 matches between Spanish and English teams in this Champions League, the English sides won 6 losing only one (Newcastle vs Barcelona 1-2).

*Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) became the youngest player (22 years 128 days old) to reach 50 Champions League appearances in the competition’s history. He surpassed Iker Casillas, who reached 50 matches at 22 years 155 days.
Other two who did it before the age of 23: Cesc Fàbregas (22-331) and Kylian Mbappé (22-339). 

Juventus vs Sporting Lisbon 1-1

*Juventus remain winless in their first 4 Champions League games of a season (3 draws, 1 loss) for the third time in their history, after the campaigns of 2013-14 (also 3 draws, 1 loss) and 1998-99 (4 draws).

Olympiacos vs PSV Eindhoven 1-1

*Ricardo Pepi (PSV) has scored his 3rd result-changing goal in second-half stoppage time in Champions League: joint-most with Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Agüero in the history of the competition.

Tottenham vs Copenhagen 4-0

*Brennan Johnson became the first ever British player to score and be sent off in the same Champions League game, and the second Tottenham player to do so in the competition, after Rafael van der Vaart (against Twente in 2010).

*The Maradona-style goal of Micky van de Ven is his already 6th across all competitions this season: more than any other centre-back across Europe's top five leagues has scored for this period. 

Bodo/Glimt vs Monaco 0-1

*Monaco recorded their first Champions League victory since 21 January 2025 (against Aston Villa), ending a run of 6 consecutive matches without a win in the competition (3 draws, 3 losses).

*Monaco kept 2 consecutive clean sheets in the Champions League for the first time since November-December 2014.

*Sébastien Pocognoli became the second coach to win a match with two different teams in the same Champions League campaign (first with Union Saint-Gilloise, now with Monaco), after Thomas Tuchel in 2020-21 (Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea).

Atlético Madrid vs Union Saint-Gilloise 3-1

*No draws in Atlético's last 21 European Cup matches: 14 wins and 7 losses.

*Diego Simeone celebrated his 60th win in UCL as Atlético’s coach: the 9th coach in competition’s history to reach this mark.

*Antoine Griezmann (Atlético) became third-most experienced French player in the Champions League (109 matches), surpassing Patrice Evra (108).
Karim Benzema (152) and Thierry Henry (112) are ahead of him.

Slavia Prague vs Arsenal 0-3

*Arsenal have won 8 games across all competitions without conceding: a joint-record for an English top-flight club along with Preston North End in 1889 and Liverpool in 1920. 

*The Gunners equaled their club clean sheet record (8 in a row); they achieved this once in 1903.

*Arsenal became only the second English team in European Cup/Champions League history to win their first 4 games of a season without conceding (also 2-0 vs Athletic, 2-0 vs Olympiacos, 4-0 vs Atlético Madrid), after Leeds in 1969-70.
Other teams who did so in UCL: Juventus in 2004-05, Lyon in 2006-07, Real Madrid in 2011-12, Paris Saint-Germain in 2017-18 and 2019-20.

*Bukayo Saka became the first Arsenal player to score in 4 consecutive away appearances in the Champions League.

*Max Dowman (Arsenal) became the first player in Champions League history aged under 16; he debutted at15 years 308 days.
Before him, the youngest player in the competition history was Lamine Yamal who debutted with Barcelona on 19 September 2023 at 16 years 68 days.
(Youssoufa Moukoko’s 16 years 18 days at debut with Borussia Dortmund in 2020 is not that trustful data).
