MOROCCO’S FIRST IFFHS AWARD

Morocco is today the number 1 in Africa’s football and joined now the World’s Top 11 in the FIFA Ranking 2025 ! The results of the moroccan football since five years impressed the world of football and also the IFFHS Awards, where for the first time in history, a moroccan player won a World IFFHS Award ! Soufiane Rahimi was crowned as the WORLD’S BEST INTERNATIONAL GOAL SCORER 2024, succeeding such winners like Brazilian Ronaldo (1997), Cristiano Ronaldo (2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019) Lionel Messi  (2011, 2012, 2022) and Robert Lewandowski (2015, 2021). 

The IFFHS was present in a football event in Bouznika (Morocco) to honor  the moroccan football. If Soufiane Rahimi could not come because of the club schedule, many players and personnalities were present to celebrate football .



Moroccan sports journalist Abdellah Jaafari (Medi 1T V) received a special trophy from the IFFHS for his documentary retracing the key moments of Morocco's formidable adventure at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. It is recognition of his exceptional contribution to the documentation of key moments in the history of football, dear to the IFFHS.

The documentary entitled “MALHAMA”, recounts with depth and humanity the exceptional journey of the Moroccan national team from its qualification to the semi-final, the ambitious royal vision for football at an international level and the transformations in Morocco, making sport a level  for development and global influence.

The Moroccan journalist has already made documentaries on the same theme of the World Cup exploit, on the Mohamed VI academy, as well as on the development of sport in Morocco during the 25 years of the reign of Mohamed VI. These works were broadcast on the Moroccan channel Medi 1 TV.

Through this work, Abdellah Jaafari contributes to the preservation of world footballing memory for the benefit of present and future generations.
