Germany - France 1-1 (6-5 penalties)
- Germany reached an 11th semi final in their last 12 appearances at the UEFA EURO, beating France on penalties after a 1-1 draw, despite playing over 105 minutes with only 10 players !
- France saw an eleven- match winning run ending with this elimination in their fourth consecutive Euro Quarter final.
- Germany's performance was impressive given the circumstances (red card for Hendrich in minute 12 !). A fantastic team spirit with energy and courage. Jule Brand, Rebecca Knaak, Franziska Kett and her teammates will now face Spain in the semi final on Wednesday.
- The St Jakob Stadion in Basel was invaded by supporters of France and Germany , the borders of France and Germany touch Switzerland and Basel !
- All 4 games played in the EURO's between France and Germany were now all won by Germany, who has won 8 EURO titles in the history of the competition.
- France has now lost 5 of their 6 penalty shootouts in the important competitions (Euro, World Cup , Olympics) !
- Selma Bacha celebrated her 50th international cap. At 24, she is now one of the leaders of the French national team and in her club Lyon, where she will soon welcome Jule Brand, Germany's striker.
- Germany' defenders were unlucky in this Euro until now, losing first Giulia Gwinn injured, Kathrin Hendrich on red card, Sarai Linder injured and finally Franziska Kett ! At the end of the game, it was Selina Cerci, the best goalscorer in Germany, who played as left defender !
