Mbappé only third best La Liga scorer in debut season
Kylian Mbappé has finished his first La Liga season with 31 goals for Real Madrid. This is the third best figure in the league history for players’ debut season. He concedes only to Ronaldo and Pruden (see details below).
Cristiano Ronaldo is not in the top 5 as he started his glorious career in Real Madrid quite “modestly”, with 26 goals in 2009-10.
Mbappé set also a new record for French players performing in top 4 European leagues (England, Spain, Italy, Germany). No one of them managed to score there more than 30 goals in season before. The best previous mark was Thierry Henry’s 30 goals for Arsenal in 2003-04.
Thierry Henry again in 2005-06 and Karim Benzema for Real Madrid in 2021-22 scored 27 goals.
