RECORD IN THE BUNDESLIGA

First ever Bundesliga game with 8 goals before break

Yesterday’s game Union Berlin vs Stuttgart (4-4) became the first ever game in Bundesliga history with 8+ goals before the break (all the goals came already in the first half).
Previosly, the highest mark was 7 goals in the first half, repeated 4 times. The last time this happened was 6 years ago, on 5 May 2019, in a match between Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt, the score was 6-1 for Leverkusen already at halftime (even after 36 minutes) and, like the newest case, remained unchanged until the final whistle.
In general, the match Union Berlin vs Stuttgart is the 8th case in the history of the Bundesliga, when two teams together scored 8+ goals in a single half. In all 7 previous ones, the super-scoring was 2nd half (see the ranking below), and only now the opponents staged a goal extravaganza in the first.
The record for goals scored in a single half was set on 6 November 1982, at Dortmund's Westfalenstadion. Borussia scored 10 goals after the break in an 11-1 (1-1) win against Arminia Bielefeld.
