PAOLO GUERRERO'S RECORD

Guerrero, oldest CONMEBOL scorer in World Cup qualification

Paolo Guerrero has just shattered the record for the oldest player to score in South American Qualifiers. The Peruvian forward has scored on 21 March against Bolivia (3-1) at the age of 41 years 78 days.
The previous record, set by his countryman Faustino Delgado (40 years 81 days) stood since May 1961.
The new Guerrero’s goal is also the oldest for national teams’ football in South America overall.
Besides, Guerrero is the second-oldest player to score in the entire history of World Cup Qualifiers (in any confederation), behind only Keithroy Cornelius, who scored on 15 November 2011 for the U.S. Virgin Islands against Curaçao, at the age of 43 years 196 days.
