CAF WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

TP MAZEMBE CHAMPION !

 

-       TP Mazembe Crowned Champions after 1-0 in over host, AS FAR FC (Morocco) in the final.  Marlene Kasaj scored the winning goal on a penalty.

-       TP Mazembe (Democratic Republic of Congo) won the 2024 CAF Women's Champions League for the first time in History ! 

-       They became the second team to win both the men and women's CAF Champions League after Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies (South Africa).

-       Mazembe stopped Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance, the latter had won the women’s continental club title in 2021 and 2023. For the FAR it was their third final and their second defeat (one title in 2022).

-       Lacho Flora Marta was crowned 3 times the best player of the game in the competition. It is the first time in history that a player was choosen 3 times as the Player of the game.

-       Their Moroccan coach, Lamia Boumhedi became the first woman to win the title. She was already the youngest player for Morocco National team in 1999 at 16, she became today the first woman coach to win the continental Trophy !

-       Mazembe lost to FAR earlier in the group stage 3-1 before clinching their first ever continental crown with their revanche against FAR.

-       TP Mazembe won in 2024 , 5 competitions, 4 in Congo and the CAF Champions League to be crowned as the number 1 in Africa this year.
