Modrić & Perišić: 119 common games for Croatia, new European record!
Ivan Perisic and Luka Modrić (PICTURE) set a new European record after their common appearance in a Nations League match against Portugal (1-1) on November 18.
They have already played 119 times together for Croatia, more than any other combination of partners across all national teams on the continent.
Previously, the record was held by a couple from Estonia, Martin Reim and Marko Cristal: 118 matches played together.
Here we publish for the first time a historical ranking of the most “inseparable” couples from European national teams.
The Swiss pair Granit Xhaka and Ricardo Rodríguez is another active in the high positions of the ranking (113).
Only two mentioned couples continue to play jointly for a country having 100+ common games.
Matches in which both members of a given pair spent time on the picth are taken into account, regardless of whether they were there at the same time.
