IFFHS AWARDS IN KANSAS CITY

  

IFFHS honored Malawian player Temwa Chawinga as the WOMEN’S WORLD BEST GOAL SCORER 2023 in Kansas City last week before the quarter final won against North Carolina Courage. She received the IFFHS Award in front of all the team and the officials of US club.

Temwa scored 63 goals in all competitions included , with Wuhan in China and Malawi in national team in the year 2023. A RECORD !

She was transferred at the begin of 2024 to Kansas City Current team in the USA. In the NWSL, the most famous national league in the World, she is again the player of the Year 2024, adding the Golden Boot Trophy, the NWSL single-season scoring record (20 goals), the first to score on all 13 active teams in a single season et 4 times Player of the month before being normally MVP of the season in USA ! And Kansas City Current can win the US title, they play the semi final in Orlando Pride ,where plays Marta, (IFFHS World’s Best playmaker), next Sunday.

 

In the same time, the IFFHS honored also German Goalkeeper Almuth Schult (teammate of Chawinga) as the IFFHS World’s Best Goalkeeper of the Second Decade (2011-2020). She received also the Trophy in front of the club. Schult won already the IFFHS annual Award 2014 and went to USA this year after the birth of her third child ! An example in Women’s World football !
