PAOLO GUERRERO THE OLDEST

Guerrero, new oldest NT scorer in South America

In 2024, many different long-term age records has been fallen. We have already reported that Andorran veteran Marc Pujol had scored (on 13 October) the oldest ever goal among all European national teams.
Curiously, the similar record was updated for South American national teams in the current year as well. The Peruvian veteran Paolo Guerrero did it on 26 March when he netted in a friendly vs Dominican Republic (4-1) at the age of 40 years 85 days.
Guerrero has surpassed his countryman Faustino Delgado for just 4 days. Delgado’s record goal is dated back to 7 May 1961 (vs Colombia).
Both former records, European and South American, stood for many decades until being beaten in 2024.
Here is the ranking for oldest CONMEBOL national teams’ goal-scorers. Leo Messi entered it recently at the 9th position.
