RECORD FOR ANDRES GUARDADO
Guardado set new CONCACAF record for most caps
After an appearance for Mexico in a friendly vs USA (2-0) on 16 October, Andrés Guardado became the new CONCACAF record holder for most games played with a national team (182).
The 38-year old veteran surpassed Maynor Figueroa who has 181 appearances for Honduras.
It was a farewell match for Guardado who announced his retirement from the national team 1.5 years ago (being still active at club level). He held on pitch the starting 19 minutes.
The games against nations who are members of CONCACAF but not FIFA are also included in the players’ tallies.
