Madrid pair set new record for UEFA Super Cup wins
Dani Carvajal and Luka Modrić have won the European Super Cup for the 5th time. Thus, they established the new record of the competition as its most titled players.
Arie Haan set the former record (4 titles) in 1978 (his Ajax 1972 win is also taken into account, although that first edition of the tournament was unofficial). Since then, it was equalled by few players.
Toni Kroos had a good opportunity to become the first ever player with 5 such trophies but missed Real Madrid's 2016 triumph.
