HACHOUD POWER 100

Abderrahmane Hachoud, the first African defender with 100 goals!

Abderrahmane Hachoud has become the first African defender in the history to score 100 top-level goals.
The Algerian reached this milestone in the match of local league for his club Ben Aknoun vs Sétif (1-0) on 7 June.
A bit unexpectedly, Hachoud reached it earlier than another prolific African defender Ali Maâloul from Tunisia, despite Maâloul had 99 goals at his tally before the beginning of 2024 and Hachoud only 94. But Maâloul is yet to score in the current year while Hachoud kept a good pace in scoring goals all this time.
The table below summarizes the record holding defenders for the number of goals in each of 6 continental confederations.
Note that an Australian Gerardo Gómez appears as a record holder for OFC since during the years of his career Australia was a member of the Oceanian confederation.
Curiously, Gomez is a Costa Rican by birth (he moved to Australia in his youth and was naturalized there), as well as Keilor Soto, the highest scoring defender for CONCACAF countries.
With Abderrahmane Hachoud, the overall number of defenders in the football history, who amassed 100+ goals, has grown to 15.
