Leo Messi, the only one with 10 victims at Copa America
Lionel Messi has netted only one goal in Copa America 2024, in the semifinal vs Canada. But this goal has just made him the first player in the competition’s history with 10 “victims”, that is the rivals against whom he did ever score. Canada wasn’t among such his rivals before the 2024 edition.
Leo’s partner Lautaro Martínez, the top scorer of the tournament, has now scored against 8 different opponents during his career in Copa America (he took part for the third time, after 2019 and 2021).
Lautaro takes the joint-second place in the historical ranking, alongside the Peruvian Paolo Guerrero who has the same number of victims (8).
