RECORD FOR LUIS SUAREZ

Suárez beat old record of Labruna

Luis Suárez has scored the last goal of Uruguay in Copa America 2024, in the match for 3rd place vs Canada (2-2) on 14 July. This goal made him the oldest ever scorer in the history of the competition (37 years 171 days).
“El Pistolero” surpassed the Argentine Ángel Labruna (37 years 123 days) whose record stood since 1956.
His club-mate Lionel Messi netted the 2nd oldest goal of Copa America 2024 (at 37 years 15 days, also vs Canada); thus Messi became the 4th oldest scorer in the historical ranking of the competition.
