Spain vs France 2-1

*Spain have progressed into their 5th Euro final (after 1964, 1984, 2008, 2012).

*Spain have passed 6 of their 7 semifinals in World Cups and Euros (one in extra time and two on penalties).
They lost at this stage only against Italy on penalties in 2021.

*Spain became the first ever team:

*Spain have won each of their last 8 matches in total (including friendlies): their best winning streak since June 2010 under Vicente del Bosque (12).

*Spain have won 12 competitive matches in a row (all under Luis de la Fuente; the world record is 14).

*Spain have scored 13 goals at Euro 2024, equalling their record for a single tournament that they set at Euro 2020.
Only France (14) in 1984 have scored more at a single tournament.

*France have been eliminated in the semi-final of a major tournament (World Cup, Euro) for the first time since Euro 1996 (vs Czechia), having won each of their following 6 matches at this stage.

*Luis de la Fuente coached Spain to European Championship titles at U19 level in 2016 and U21 level in 2019.
On both of those occasions his team beat France in the semi-final as well!

*Randal Kolo Muani became the 3rd France player to score in both Euro and World Cup semi-finals after Michel Platini (1982, 1984) and Zinedine Zidane (2000, 2006).

*Lamine Yamal has just smashed the record for the Euro's youngest ever scorer (16 years 362 days).
Previously, it belonged to  Johan Vonlanthen (Switzerland, 18 years 141 days).

*Dani Olmo is the first ever Spanish player to score in 3 consecutive knockout round games at a major tournament (he scored also vs Georgia in the round of 16 and vs Germany in the quarter-finals).

He is also now the oldest outfield player to play in a semi-final of Euro or World Cup, surpassing Fritz Walter (37 years 236 days) and Gunnar Gren (37 years 236 days), who faced each other in the 1958 World Cup semi-final.

*Aymeric Laporte became the 2nd Spanish player to appear in a Euro semi-final against the team from their country of birth, after Thiago against Italy in 2021.

*N'Golo Kanté (France) stopped his unique series of 20 appearances for his national team at major tournaments without losing a single one (the longest such unbeaten streak by any European player).

*France have finally scored their proper first goal (Kolo Muani) from open play (not counting the rivals’ own goals) which remained their only such goal in 6 games at Euro 2024.

*Antoine Griezmann is the new France’s record holder on Euro appearances (17); he surpassed Lilian Thuram (16).
