The statistics on 2024 Euro day 8 (21 June)
Slovakia vs Ukraine 1-2
*It was the fourth instance of a team coming from behind to win a match at Euro 2024, already the same number of comeback victories as in the whole Euro 2020.
*Ukraine have won a Euro game from a losing position for the second time in their history, after their very first game in the competition which was the opening game of Euro 2012 (vs Sweden 2-1).
*Ukraine never yet kept a clean sheet in their 13 matches at the Euros, which is an anti-record for the competition, since no team in history has ever achieved its first clean sheet over so many games.
*Roman Yaremchuk has now scored for Ukraine more goals (3) than any other player surpassing Andriy Shevchenko.and Andriy Yarmolenko (2 each).
*Ivan Schranz is the first player to score multiple goals for Slovakia at Euros.
Poland vs Austria 1-3
*Austria fielded their oldest ever starting lineup (average age of 28 years 217 days) in a Euro game.
*Austria never conceded a goal in the second half in their last 9 matches, a feat previously only achieved by them between November 1973 and June 1975, when they went 10 matches in a row without conceding in the second half.
*Austria have beaten Poland in a competitive game only once before. Curiously, it was also at the Berlin Olympic stadium, like now (on 11 August 1936, in Olympic semifinal) and the score was also 3-1.
In a friendly, Austria defeated Poland last time in 1994 (4-3 in Katowice).
*Marko Arnautovic became the second-oldest (35 years 63 days) goalscorer for Austria at a major tournament (Euro, World Cup); only Ivica Vastic was older when he scored at Euro 2008, also from a penalty against Poland (38 years 257 days).
*Christoph Baumgartner and Marko Arnautovic became the first two players to score multiple goals at Euros (2 each). Both scored a goal in the 2020 edition and added another now vs Poland.
Netherlands vs France 0-0
*This is the first 0-0 at the Euros since England vs Scotland 0-0 on 18 June 2021. There had been 50 successive matches with goals between these two draws: the longest such streak in the history of the tournament.
*A French player has not scored at Euro 2024 so far (the only France goal was an own goal vs Austria).
*France has started a Euro edition with 0 or 1 goal in first 2 games for the 3rd time. On the 2 previous occasions (1992 and 2008) they did not make it past the group stage.
*France have won a game without Kylian Mbappé since 25 March 2022 (2 draws and 1 defeat in 3 occasions).
*Since Mbappé made his senior debut, France has played 3 games in major tournaments without him in starting lineup and failed to score in all of them (also vs Denmark 0-0 at World Cup 2018 and vs Tunisia 0-1 at World Cup 2022).
*France in the last two World Cups and in the last two Euros combined:
264 minutes and 0 goals without Mbappé,
1596 minutes and 38 goals with Mbappé on the pitch.
*Antoine Griezmann has started for France in 11 Euro games in a row: third longest active such streak in the competition behind Cristiano Ronaldo (18) and Toni Kroos (13).
*Bart Verbruggen (Netherlands) became the youngest goalkeeper (21 years 307 days) to keep a clean sheet in a Euro match.
He surpassed Petr Čech, who did not concede goals for Czech Republic vs Denmark in 2004 at the age of 22 years 38 days.
