IFFHS WOMEN’S INTERNATIONAL REPORT (31 mai – 5 June)

 

-       First match and first win for Emma Hayes, the English new coach of USA National Team. Two goals each for Tierna Davidson and Mallory Swanson-Pugh (her first goal since 465 days) allowed a large win vs South Korea.

-       Kailen Sheridan earned her 50th international cap with Canada. A new clean sheet and a victory 2-0 vs Mexico with the 8th international goal of the year 2024 for Adriana Leon.

-       Lieke Martens played her 159th and last international game for Netherlands last Friday. She won the Euro 2017 with Netherlands and was crowned as IFFHS World’s Best Playmaker 2017 !

-       Mary Earps was unlucky for her 50th international game with England vs France. She was injured after 5 minutes and  let her place as Goalkeeper to Hannah Hampton.

-       Record crowd in Sydney, Australia where 76000 spectators honored the last international game and the end of her career of Lydia Williams. The most famous Australian Goalkeeper was 19 years and 103 international caps during the number 1. She will retire after the Olympics in Paris.

-       Brazilian star Marta, the first woman IFFHS Award winner in 2012, will also retire this summer. She continue until now to score : 3 goals vs Jamaica with her Brazil team !

-       At 20 years old, Salma Paralluelo has the most prestigious career in the History of women’s World football for a youth player. She won 3 World Cups (FIFA U17, FIFA U20, FIFA Women), 1 UEFA Euro, 1 Nations League with Spain – 2 UEFA Champions Leagues, 2 Championships, 2 Supercups, 1 Copa del Reina with FC Barcelona, and … two european titles and World record U18 as 400 m hurdler in Athletics !

-       US forward Catarina Macario provided an assist on her first international start in 781 days as Emma Hayes got off a winning start as USA boss.

-       Wendie Renard has beaten the record of Sandrine Soubeyrand as captain of the French National team (85 times). She has already 159 international caps and 38 goals for a defender !

-       Germans young stars Lena Oberdorf and Klara Buhl (the two players will be part of FC Bayern München next season) honored their 50th  international cap with Germany in Poland.

-       Jane Ross played her 150th international game with Scotland, where Martha Thomas scored 4 goals vs Israel (5 in the two matches) !

-       Jovana Damnjanović, Bayern player, scored again for Serbia ! She played her first match for Serbia (friendly, Hungary, February 23, 2010) at the age of 15 years and 91 days, and scored her first goal for the senior national team at the age of 15 years and 127 days (Estonia, World Cup Qualifiers, March 21, 2010). 

-       16 year old Lily Yohannes scored in her debut as USA National player vs South Korea ! She was already successful with Ajax Amsterdam in the UEFA Champions League.

-       Spain and Germany are the only 2 nations to have won their 4 games in League A of Euro Qualifications.

-       For her 100th international game, Kadidiatou Diani scored her 28th goal for France.

-       Lea Schueller (Germany - 5 goals in League A), Martha Thomas (Scotland – 5 goals in League B) and Armisa Kuc + Laura Prasnikar (Montenegro and Slovenia – 5 goals in League C) are the leaders of the Goalscorer ranking in Euro Women Qualifications.
