THE TWO UNBEATEN STREAKS OF RODRI

Two great unbeaten streaks of Rodri

Rodri, the Spanish midfielder of Manchester City, continues his two impressive long streaks after his club’s win over Wolverhampton (5-1) on 4 May.
He has not lost a match, either for club or country, for more than a year - after losing with Spain to Scotland (0-2) on 28 March 2023. In total, he already has 70 matches without defeat in a row (54 wins, 16 draws).
At the same time, Rodri is progressing his other streak, without defeat in matches for the club only.
This streak began even earlier than the mentioned above, after a defeat to Tottenham (0-1) on 5 February 2023. This series is one match longer, consisting of 71 matches (55 wins, 16 draws).
Both Rodri’s streaks are one of best such individual runs in the entire world football history (not yet world records though – few more games are needed for that).
Details are in the table, with a breakdown of the tournaments for each of two series.
Notably, his teams suffered defeats during this period of time. But every time this happened, Rodri did not appear due to various reasons.
Overall, he missed 12 matches for the club and 2 for the national team within this term. Spain lost in one of these two games. Manchester City lost 4 of 5 Premier League matches in which Rodri was absent.
Amazing statistics! It turns out that with him and without him Man City look like two different teams. The most irreplaceable element in Pep Guardiola’s mechanism!
