- After finishing top of Group C with their best ever goal average at a World Cup, Japan strolled into the quarter finals with an impressive win over Norway.
- Hinata Miyazawa scored her 5th goal of the competition, becoming unique leader and already joining Homare Sawa as Japan’s best Goalscorer in a World Cup. It was in 2011 and Japan became World Champion !
- Guro Reiten entered in History, she scored the 100th goal of Norway at World Cup.
- Japan won now 8 of their 10 last games against European teams at a World Cup.
- Japan and Norway have both one World Cup title (1995 for Norway, 2011 for Japan) and 9 participations in 9 World Cups !
