THE ROUND OF 16
The 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand has reached the Round of 16 stage. The 32 qualified national teams participating in the group stage have been trimmed to 16 for the next phase of the tournament as the battle for glory begins to intensify for those still in the running.
Germany (2), Canada (7), Brazil (8), China (14), Italy (16) and Republic Korea (17) (6 teams ranked in the World’s TOP 20 by FIFA) are eliminated at the Group stage ! Morocco (72), South Africa (54), Jamaica (43) and Nigeria (40) are qualified for the knockout stage.
Europe (8) is the most represented but Africa (3), CONCACAF (2), Asia (1) ,South America (1) and Oceania (1) are all present : this shows the fantastic progression of football in the whole World.
