FACTS AND STATS
- 3 games, 3 wins : Sweden, Olympic finalist 2016 and 2020, is qualified for the 8th time in 9 World Cups for the ko round.
- With their first place in the group, Sweden will play USA in 1/8 final ! Already a World Cup highlight !
- Caroline Seger became the all time Sweden’s (men and women) recordwomen with 20 appearances at World Cup.
- After 2003, 2007 and 2019, Argentina could not join the knockout round after one defeat and two draws in their fourfth World Cup.

- South Africa will face 2019 finalists Netherlands in their first EVER knockout stage round at a World Cup !
- It was also their first win in World Cup History at their second paticipation .
- The two goals of Arianne Caruso were not enough for Italy to join the KO stage for the third time in History .
- It was captain Thembi Kgatlana (now 3 goals in the World Cup History) who broke Italian hearts in the 92’ minute and scored the winning and historical goal.
- After Nigeria, South Africa is already the second African team to join the knockout stage !
- South African coach Desiree Ellis, in place since 2016, has now qualified two times her team for World Cup (2019, 2023) ,won the FIRST EVER African Nations Cup 2022 and joined the World’s Top 16 in the World Cup 2023 !

For France : Maelle Lakrar (21’), Kadidiatou Diani (28’, 37’ penalty, 52’), Lea Le Garrec (45’ +5), Vicki Becho (90’+9).

- After the large success over Panama, France finished first of their Group and qualified for the 4th consecutive time to the knockout round !
- Kadidiatou Diani scored 3 goals today, her 23,24 and 25th goal for French team. She is the only french player to score 3 goals in the World Cup History ! She signed at Oympique Lyonnais last week.
- First goals in the World Cup History for debutant Panama ! It was captain Marta Cox who delivered a marvellous free kick to open the score .
- Herve Renard made a turnover in his team for this game, so that all players (except the Goalkeepers) of the squad have played in the tournament.
44 - JAMAICA – BRAZIL 0-0 (GROUP F)
Melbourne Stadium. 27 638 spectators . Referee : Esther Staubli (Switzerland).
FACTS AND STATS
- Sensation in Melbourne, where Jamaica qualified for the knockout round for the first time in History, Brazil is eliminated for the first time since 1995 in the Group stages !
- Jamaica played only their second World Cup after 2019. They won Panama and made two draws against France and Brazil, without conceding zero goal in the 3 games ! Only Japan and Switzerland made the same.
- It was the last World Cup game of Legend Marta, present with Brazil in 6 World Cups.
- The Reggae girls were solid in defence, backed superbly by Spencer in goal and with their leader Kadisha Shaw.
- Despite scoring in 23 successive World Cup Group games, Brazil failed to progress to the next round.
