-       Ibtissam Jraidi (picture) scored a historical goal for Morocco for their FIRST win at a FIFA Women’s world Cup !

-       South Korea lost their sixth consecutive defeat at the World Cup and has now no chance to continue their way.

-       Morocco has now the opportunity to qualify in their last match of the group against Jamaica.

-       Morocco defender Nouhaila Benzina is the first player in the History of the Women’s World Cup to wear a hijab.

-       New Zealand became the first ever host nation of a World Cup to crash out at the group stages.

-       Switzerland needed only a draw to secure their qualification and move into the round of 16 for the second time of their History.

Sophie Haug's hat trick !


-       Norway rolled out facile winners against the Philippines to qualify after a difficult opening (one defeat, one draw) !

-       Sophie Haug scored 3 goals, replacing Ada Hegerberg missing the game because of an injury ! The first hat trick for Haug.

-       Philippines can take pride from their World Cup, earning their first ever win in the competition for their first appearance.

Sydney Football Stadium.  40 499  spectators. Half time : 0-0. Referee : Melissa Borjas (Honduras). Goals for Germany : Alexandra Popp (89’ penalty). For Colombia :  Linda Caicedo (52’), Manuela Vanegas (90’+7).

 

FACTS AND STATS

 

-       Manuela Vanegas scored a breathtaking 97th minute winner, so that Colombia pulled off one of the greatest surprises in World Cup History.

-       Germany was unbeaten in all World Cups Group games since 1995 (20 consecutive games) until today.

-       Linda Caicedo scored the GOAL OF THE TOURNAMENT ! She has now already scored 8 goals in her 3 World Cups in one year (4 with the U20, 2 with the U17 and 2 with the A team) !

-       Lena Oberdorf was the only German player to be dangerous in the game, Colombian made a fantastic game full of determination and enthusiasm before more than 40 000 spectators.
