FACTS AND STATS
- Substitute Cristiana Girelli’s late header (54 goals in 104 caps), 4 minutes after her enter on the field, gave the 3 points to Italy, extending the unbeaten serie run to five games. The oldest player in Italy’s sqad made the decision.
- Argentina has now played 10 World Cup games (2003, 2007, 2019, 2023) without victory (8 defeats, 2 draws).
- Italy has given all confidence to the young generation ; Giulia Dragoni (16 years old) and Chiara Beccari (18) were in the Top 11 at the opening game !

FACTS AND STATS
- Germany got off a flying start, demolishing Morocco 6-0 in their opening game (8 victories and 1 draw in their nine opening games in the 9 World Cups).
- Alexandra Popp’s two goals saw her move up to 64 goals in 129 international caps for Germany, becoming the All time third in her country.
- Morocco played today their First World Cup game in History, being the FIRST Arab country to participate af a final stage !
- Germany was present at all 9 World Cups (2 titles in 2003 and 2007) and lost only one of 25 Group games (Sweden in 1995) !

- Ary Borges was the Player of the game, scoring 3 goals with the assist for the 4th goal !
- The Tournament debutant Panama must look to bounce back from this large defeat with Marta Cox as leader.
- Marta has now played already in her sixth World Cup (only Formiga with 7 is ahead). When she will score in 2023, she will become the first player in the History to score in 6 World Cups !
