A NEW RECORD AFTER 68 YEARS

Bican’s record beaten after 68 years

One of many records belonging to Josef Bican was broken on 30 April. On this day, the Bohemians defender Josef Jindřišek has scored from penalty in the Czech league match at the age of 42 years 75 days.
Thus, he surpassed Bican, who had previously been the author of the oldest goals in the league history (since 1925). On 21 August 1955, Bican has scored his last goals (as many as 4) in the league for Slavia at 41 years 334 days.
Curiously, until yet 4 years ago, Bican remained the only player in the league to score after turning 40, and now there are 5 such players; 3 of them, including the new record holder Jindřišek (they are taken in bold) entered the list just during the current season.
The data from the statistician Roman Jašek’s research on Czech league history.
