Statistics on Champions’ League quarter-finals of 11 April

*Inter have achieved (2-0 vs Benfica) their joint-biggest away win in the European Cup/Champions League, from the quarter-finals onwards, along with 2-0 vs Partizan in 1964 and 2-0 vs Real Madrid in 1967 (both times also in quarter-finals).

*To imagine the Inter chances for advance to semi-final: in the whole history of European Cup/Champions League, only one team managed to win a tie, from the quarter-finals onwards, after losing the first leg at home by 2+ goals difference (Ajax made this feat vs Benfica in the quarter-final of 1968-69 season, 1-3, 3-1 and 3-0 in extra-game).

*Inter have scored a penalty goal (Lukaku) away from home for the first time in the entire history of the Champions League.
They had only one away penalty before and missed it (vs Bayer on 19 March 2003, Hans-Jörg Butt stopped from Domenico Morfeo).

*With this, Inter have finished their run of 59 consecutive matches without a penalty away in the Champions League; this is the longest such series in the tournament's history.

*Bayern have equaled (0-3 vs Manchester City) their worst official defeat on English soil. They also lost with same score in the Fairs Cup quarter-final against Liverpool on 10 March 1971.

*Bayern have not suffered such a setback in Europe since 27 September 2017 when they lost 0-3 against PSG in Paris.

*Bayern have never come back from a 3+ goal deficit in a two-legged tie, in the entire history of European competitions.

*Manchester City, in great form now, have prolonged their winning series in all competitions to 9 games.

*Manchester City’s record at home against German rivals in the 2022-23 Champions League: 10 goals for (7 against Leipzig and 3 against Bayern) and 0 against.

*Pep Guardiola have won, as a coach all 12 home games against German rivals in UCL, 8 of them with 3+ goal difference.
As a coach of Manchester City, Guardiola has crashed at home Borussia Gladbach 4-0, Schalke 7-0, Leipzig 6-3 and 7-0, Bayern 3-0. While at Barcelona he beat Bayern 4-0, Stuttgart 4-0 and Bayer Leverkusen 7-1.

*Erling Haaland has finally beat Bayern, for the first time in his career. His previous personal statistics against this rival was 7 games, 7 defeats (despite he regularly scored vs Bayern; this new goal is his 6th vs Munich side).

*Haaland has scored his 34th goal in UCL, taking for it just 26 games. The other scorers in the competition history are well behind:  Harry Kane and Alessandro Del Piero have scored 20 goals after 26 games, Ruud van Nistelrooij 19.

*Apart from his goal, Haaland has also assisted (to Bernardo Silva): it was his first UCL assist for 2 years (and the 4th overall: 1 with Salzburg, 2 with Dortmund and 1 with Manchester City).
