MOST HAT TRICKS IN WORLD TOP LEVEL FOOTBALL 2022
Kylian Mbappé – King of Hat-Tricks 2022!
Kylian Mbappé and Kodai Tanaka have made most hat-tricks (5 each) in the top-level world football in 2022.
The French striker is awarded as the winner of category “King of hat-tricks” due to the main tie-breaker: number of hat-tricks in international games. The glorious hat-trick in the World Cup final has just given him advantage. Other four were made by him for PSG.
Tanaka has meanwhile scored all his hat-trick in domestic games (of Singapore league).
In total, 12 players worldwide have finished 2022 with 3 and more hat-tricks in top-level games.
In the ranking below, they are sorted by following tie-breakers: 1) hat-tricks in international games (ICC+NT), 2) in national team (NT), 3) in national league (NL), 4) number of total goals scored in the hat-trick games, 5) strength of the league (according IFFHS league ranking).
The right columns indicate the “size” of hat-tricks: number of games with 3, 4 and 5+ goals. Michael Olunga had two games with 5 goals, Julián Álvarez one game with 6 goals.
Ronan Hale featuring in the league of Northern Ireland has made 3 pokers in 2022 (more than any other player), all 3 in different competitions: in the league, Irish Cup and League Cup. In his remaining games of 2022, apart from those three, he never scored more than once.
