Delphine Cascarino, at only 25, has already participated at 6 finals and won 6 , the last in Turin beating FC Barcelona ! Last Wednesday, she played already her 50 th UEFA Champions League game (here in duel with Juventus midfielder Julia Grosso).
UEFA WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE DAY 6 (21/22 December 2022)
They are now 8 clubs qualified for the Quarter finals.The 5 greatest leagues are represented (England, France, Germany all with 2 teams, Spain and Italy with one team). In the last game of the Group stage, Olympique Lyon won the last ticket to the next round with a draw against Juventus (0-0). It was enough for the teammates of Wendie Renard to take the second place of the Group C behind Arsenal, large winner in Zurich (9-1).
FC Barcelona scored 29 goals in their 6 Group games and last Wednesday, Vicky Lopez (picture) became the youngest player ever (16 years, 4 months and 26 days) to play a UEFA Champions League game. With 60 goals in 17 youth league games, she is the new talent in spanish football. Barcelona had the same points (15) than FC Bayern München, also very impressive in the Group D.
VFL Wolfsburg was the winner of the Group B (14 points) , scoring 19 goals with the best Goalscorer of the competition, Ewa Pajor (7 goals). Surprise team in this Group stage, Italy’s AS Roma, qualified for the first time in History to the Quarter finals. Chelsea (16 points) dominated the Group A before Paris SG , Real Madrid (8 points) didn’t qualify for the Quarter finals after losing last week the most important game in Paris.
