The statistics on World Cup squads
*National leagues with the most players called up for 2022 World Cup:
164 – England, 87 – Spain, 81 – Germany, 68 – Italy, 57 – France, 36 – United States, 35 – Saudi Arabia, 33 – Qatar.
*The oldest player in the squads: Alfredo Talavera, a Mexican goalkeeper (born on 18 September 1982). He is the only player with an age of 40+ years.
In the list of oldest participants of the tournament, Talavera is followed by five 39 year old players: Atiba Hutchinson (Canada), Pepe (Portugal),
Eiji Kawashima (Japan), Dani Alves (Brazil), Remko Pasveer (Netherlands).
*The youngest player in the squads: Youssoufa Moukoko, a German striker. He will turn 18 years just on the opening day of the tournament, 20 November.
There are five 18 year old players more: Garang Kuol (Australia), Gavi (Spain), Jewison Bennette (Costa Rica), Bilal El Khannous (Morocco), Abdul Fatawu Issahaku (Ghana).
*Clubs with the most players at the 2022 World Cup:

Barcelona set the new record of World Cups: no club has delegated so many players to any World Cup edition before.
*Three Real Madrid players got a shirt with number 10 in their national teams (Marco Asensio in Spain, Eden Hazard in Belgium, Luka Modrić in Croatia).
Also three PSG players got the number 10 (Kylian Mbappé in France, Lionel Messi in Argentina, Neymar in Brazil).
The only similar case (the same shirt number at 3 players from same club) in the previous World Cup history happened in 2014 when three 3 Barcelona players got number 10 (Cesc Fabregas, Messi, Neymar).
*Youngest squads (by average age):
Ghana (25 years 108 days), United States (25-214), Ecuador (26-024), Morocco (26-251), Senegal (26-257).
*Oldest squads (by average age):
Iran (29-153), Mexico (28-353), Tunisia (28-196), Brazil (28-157), Belgium (28-126).
*Four players are called up for their 5th World Cup edition: Andrés Guardado (Mexico), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Guillermo Ochoa (Mexico), Lionel Messi (Argentina).
In the whole previous history of the tournament, there was also just 4 such players (Antonio Carbajal, Gianluigi Buffon, Lothar Matthäus, Rafael Márquez).
*The tallest participant of 2022 World Cup is Andries Noppert, a Netherlands goalkeeper (203 cm), the shortest Ilias Chair from Moroccan squad (164 cm).
*From 831 players called up to 32 national teams, 227 have previously played in World Cup.
