Cristiano Ronaldo grows his international records

*Scoring 2 goals in the World Cup qualifier against Republic of Ireland (2-1), Cristiano Ronaldo increased his World record on goals scored for the national team to 111. He left behind the former record holder Ali Daei (Iran) whose correct tally makes 108 goals (would have been 109 with a goal he scored in the annulled match against North Korea in 2003).

*Cristiano Ronaldo is far ahead of everyone in the history of football in the category of goals scored in official international top-level matches - 255 (144 for the clubs, 111 for the national team).

*Cristiano Ronaldo is now the joint European record holder for the number of caps, along with Sergio Ramos (both have 180). In the all-time world ranking, they share the 4th place conceding to Soh Chin Ann (Malaysia, 219), Bader Al-Mutawa (Kuwait, 185), Ahmed Hassan (Egypt, 184) and sharing the position with Ahmed Al-Mahaijri (Oman, 180).

*CR7 became the first player in the history of World Cup qualifiers (counting all confederations), thanks to whose double his team, losing by the 89th minute, managed to achieve victory.

*Cristiano Ronaldo is 3rd in the all-time ranking of World Cup qualification scorers with 33 goals. He concedes only to Carlos Ruiz (Guatemala, 39) and Ali Daei (Iran, 35).

*Republic of Ireland became the 45th national team who suffered from CR7 goals.

*Cristiano Ronaldo also failed to score from the penalty spot in that game. It happened with him for the first time in his last seven attempts, since failing to convert against Iran at the 2018 World Cup.
