IFFHS NEWS - TITLES AND RECORDS OF THE WEEK 20

In the last minute of the last match of the season, he scored his goal number 41 in the Bundesliga to beat Gerd Muller’s old Historic Record from 1971/72 (40 goals) and to become the SEASON GOAL SCORER NEW RECORD HOLDER ! A great moment for Lewandowski, who was crowned in the last 10 months as THE WORLD’S BEST PLAYER and THE WORLD’S BEST GOALSCORER by FIFA and IFFHS ! On Saturday , hewas congratuled by Uschi Muller, Gerd’s wife, for the new Record.

2 – Considered as too old by Barcelona, Luis Suarez joined Atlético de Madrid last summer. Last Saturday, he won the LA LIGA title with his club, seven years after the last title of Atlético ! What a great revanche for Suarez and a great story.

3 -  2020/21 German champions! For the ninth time in a row, for the 30th time since the founding of the Bundesliga in 1963 and for the 31st time overall, FC Bayern have won the league - and that will make the Munich team shine even brighter in the future. From next season onwards, a fifth star will adorn Bayern's chest.

CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "The fifth star on our home jerseys is the reward for 30 league titles since the founding of the Bundesliga in 1963. This has been earned by many generations of players and is proof of FC Bayern's decades of consistency at the highest level - FC Bayern fans can be proud of that."
guidelines state that first and second division teams receive stars for winning league titles since the founding of the Bundesliga in 1963: one for three titles, two for five title wins, three for ten titles, four for 20 league wins, and five for 30 titles. FC Bayern is now the first club to have reached this mark. The 1932 championship title is not counted by the DFL because it was won before the Bundesliga was founded. This means that in the 2021/22 season, FCB will officially be allowed to wear the long-awaited fifth star.

4 – Erling Haaland (Norway/Borussia Dortmund) is the youngest player in the History of Europe’s Top Level football to score more than 40 goals in one season all competitions included at age 20 ! Kylian MBappe and Lionel Messi were 22, Cristiano Ronaldo 23.
