IFFHS EURO STATISTICS 12 - PLAYERS WITH MOST MEDALS
Picture : Rainer Bonhof is the first in chronology to win two Gold and one Silver Medals !
Players with most medals
Nine players currently share the record for the number of medals won at the European Championships (3).
The first in chronology is the German Rainer Bonhof who received gold medals for winning the editions of 1972 and 1980, and in the interval between them - a silver medal for reaching the 1976 final.
Two other Germans, Jürgen Klinsmann and Jürgen Kohler, as well as Cristiano Ronaldo, have one medal of each value (gold, silver and bronze).
All 6 German record co-holders have won their medals in three consecutive tournaments. Whereas all three representatives of other national teams, the Dutchmen Aron Winter and Frank de Boer, together with the same Cristiano Ronaldo, did it with a break in one tournament.
The upcoming tournament could bring the first ever 4-time medalist (you have already understood that this is Cristiano Ronaldo, the only active player in the list). This will happen if Portugal reaches the semi-finals.
