Toney tied monthly league scoring record of XXI century
Ivan Toney scored 12 goals in the Saudi Arabian league in January. In doing so, the Al Ahly forward equaled the current century's record for most league goals in a single calendar month in the national league.
Before Toney, only four players in the XXI century had managed to score 12 league goals within a month, the last of which was Slavia Prague’s Vaclav Jurečka in May 2023.
This does not take into account events in minor national leagues (below the top 100 according to the IFFHS league ranking).
