Mbappé, the first to score 3 UCL hat-tricks in a year
In 2025, Kylian Mbappé became the first player to score three UEFA Champions League hat-tricks in a single calendar year. Manchester City in February, Kairat Almaty in September, and Olympiacos Piraeus in November were all victims of the Real Madrid forward.
Among other confederations, something similar has happened once in CONCACAF: Mexico's Javier Orozco notched three hat-tricks for Cruz Azul in their Champions League in 2010 (but one of them was in the qualifying round).
On two other occasions, a player scored three hat-tricks within a year in lower-category continental tournaments: a Brazilian Rico (full name Leandson Dias da Silva) in 2008 in AFC Cup, and a Nigerian Gift Orban in 2023 in the UEFA Conference League.
