KYLIAN MBAPPE'S SCORING RUN
Mbappé’s scoring run for Madrid concedes only to CR7’s
Kylian Mbappé ended his 8-game scoring run for Real Madrid in La Liga in a 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano on 9 November.
In the club's history, only Cristiano Ronaldo has managed a longer such streak, even twice: 11 consecutive games in 2014 and 10 games in 2018.
The previous club record holder was Ferenc Puskás: 8 games in 1960.
Notably, Real Madrid's best streak pales in comparison to Lionel Messi's remarkable achievement, who scored in 21 consecutive La Liga matches for Barcelona in the 2012-13 season. This is not only a Spanish but also a world record.
Earlier this year, Mbappé had already had a 7-game league scoring series. His two runs (7-game and 8-game) were separated by just one match in which he failed to score. Thus, over a 16-game stretch, he has scored in all but one.
This is the second-longest such streak in Real Madrid history. Cristiano Ronaldo had a 20-game run of this kind between 2 March and 22 November 2014 (his 8- and 11-game streaks were separated by one goalless match).
