THE SEMI FINALISTS
Argentina – Colombia ( 29 July) and Uruguay – Brazil (30 July) are the semi finals for the COPA AMERICA 2025 !
In the Group A, Argentina won all 4 games to take sovereign the first place with 12 points and 6 – 1 goal average ! Florencia Bonsegundo, who plays in Madrid CFF, was the leader of the team, which took place 3 in the two last editions (2018 and 2022). Argentina won one (2006) of the 9 editions of the Copa America, Brazil won the other 8. The Argentines were 3 times runners up in 1991, 1995 and 1998.
Uruguay took the second place of the Group, surprising Chile with a decisive 3-0 ! Belen Aquino, who plays at Internacional in Brazil, scored two important goals to push her team to this great result. Uruguay qualified only for the second time in history for the semi finals ! The last time in 2006, they finished at the third place of the Copa America.
Chile, Nayely Bolanos with Ecuador and Peru finished at places 3 to 5.
In the Group B, Brazil won 3 games and one draw (10 points) to finish at the first place with 12-1 goal average. The same goal average like Colombia, which won only 2 games with 2 draws against Brazil and … Venezuela .With 8 points, Colombia took the second qualificative place for the semi final. Kerolin and Amanda Guttieres scored each 3 goals for Brazil, Linda Caicedo made the same for Colombia, but the two best goalscorers of the Copa America until now are Claudia Martinez Ovando, aged of 17 years ( !), who scored in each game for a total of 6 goals for Paraguay and Oriana Altuve Mansilla (4 goals for Venezuela).
Brazil won 8 of the 9 editions and was one time runner up ; Colombia was runner up in 2010, 2014 and 2022, Took place 3 in 2003 and place 4 in 2018.
Paraguay, Venezuela and Bolivia finished from ranks 3 to 5.
