WOMEN’S CONTINENTAL COMPETITIONS – THE POINT
Since beginning July, we publish the daily reports of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 until the 27 July). In the same time, 4 other women competitions are held in all the continents, the Copa America (until 3 August), the OFC Nations Cup (until 19 July), the Africa Cup of Nations (until 26 July) and the Asian Cup qualifications (until the 19 July).
AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS
Nigeria is the record holder with 9 titles in 12 editions. Only Equatorial Guinea and South Africa (winner of the last edition 2022) have also won this competition. Morocco who was runner-up in 2022 hosts again the competition.
Morocco, Zambia, Nigeria, Algeria, South Africa, Ghana, Mali and Senegal are qualified for the quarter finals after the Group matches.
Ghizlane Chebbak (Morocco and Nguenar Ndiaye (Senegal) lead the goalscorer ranking with 4 goals.
OFC NATIONS CUP
12 tournaments were been held until now, with 6 titles for New Zealand and 3 for Australia (Australia ceased to be a member of OFC in 2006 to join AFC). New Zealand din’t participate at the editions 2022 and 2025.
Vanuata took the 5th rank of the competition, beating Tahiti and Tonga the 7th place , winning against Tonga.
Marie Kaipu (Papua New Guinea) and Leimata Simon (Vanuata) lead the Goal scorer ranking with 5 goals each.
The semi finals will face Papua New Guinea (the title holder) to Fiji (it was the final of last tournament 2022) and Samoa to Solomon Islands on 16 July, the final will be held the 19 july.
ASIAN CUP
Iran, Jordan, India, Bangladesh, Chinese Tapei, Vietnam, Philippines and North Korea have won all their games until now . The most impressive were North Korea (26 goals in 3 games) and India (24). It is the beginning of the qualifications for the final stage of the ASIAN CUP 2026 where Australia, South Korea, Japan and China are already qualified. The 8 best teams of the qualifications groups will join the 4 teams .
COPA AMERICA
Brazil has won 8 titles in the 9 editions of the Copa America, Argentina won one. Colombia was runner up in 3 of the 4 last finals !
Since the 12 July, the 10 national teams from South America play for the Copa America 2025. 2 groups of 5 teams with some favourites in the Group B (Brazil and Colombia) and in the Group A (Chile and Argentina). The two best of each Group will face in the semi finals.
