Luis Enrique Martinez Garcia, born 8 May 1970 in Gijon, is again currently the Coach of the Spanish National Team after being a former professional player and beginning a brilliant managerial career that conducted him to the IFFHS Award of THE WORLD’S  BEST CLUB COACH 2015 !

He made his youth years in Gijon where he began also his professional career in 1989. With Sporting Gijon he scored 14 goals in 36 matches until 1991 and Luis Enrique became then a Player of Real Madrid CF in 1991 ! He stayed there 5 seasons and won La Liga 1994/95, la Copa del Rey 1992/93 and the Supercopa de Espana 1993, playing 157 matches and scoring 15 goals. After five years in the “White House” in Madrid he went to … the great rival FC Barcelona in 1996 ! He spent 8 seasons in Barcelona until 2004, winning two La Liga titles (1997/98, 1998/99), two Copa del Rey (1996/97, 1997/98), one Supercopa de Espana (1996), one UEFA Cup Winners Cup (1996/97) and one UEFA Super Cup (1997). He played 207 games with Barcelona, scoring 73 goals. He was capped in the Spanish National Team 62 times and scored 12 international goals, winning the Summer Olympic Tournament 1992 and participating at 3 FIFA World Cups and one UEFA Euro. He finished his player career with a league total of 400 matches and 102 goals.

Luis Enrique started his managerial career in 2008 with the B-Team of FC Barcelona before moving to AS Roma in Italy (2011/12) and returning to Celta Vigo in 2013. In 2014, it was his time to take in charge the FC Barcelona with a fantastic success ! In 3 seasons, he won a treble and a double , 2 La Liga titles (2014/15, 2015/16), 3 Copa del Rey (2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17), one Supercopa de Espana (2016), one UEFA Champions League (2014/15), one UEFA Super Cup (2015) and one FIFA Club World Cup  (2015). He became in 2015 THE WORLD’S BEST CLUB COACH by IFFHS with a great advance. 138 victories in 181 matches with FC Barcelona between 2014 and 2017 allowed him to be appointed in July 2018 as Spain’s Head Coach. He resigned some months later because of a familial dramatic death before coming back since two months as National Coach of Spain.
