RAPHINHA'S RECORD

Raphinha equalled CR7’s record in Champions League

Raphinha has ended his outstanding season in Champions League with Barcelona as the tournament’s new record co-holder for number of goal involvements in a single season.
Ht scored in this campaign 13 goals (joint-most with Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy) and made 8 assists (most of all; the next is Joshua Kimmich with 6 for Bayern).
In total, Raphinha directly participated in 21 goals of his team, as many as only one player previously achieved: Cristiano Ronaldo in 2013-14 for Real Madrid (17 goals, 4 assists).
Also, the Barcelona’s forward has beaten by far the record for goals scored by a Brazilian player in a single Champions League campaign (since 1992) that was 10 goals before (repeated by 5 his compatriots).
Taking into account the whole history of major European club competitions (since 1955), the best Brazilian scorer in a single edition is José Altafini: 14 goals for Milan in 1962-63.
Altafini, still alive, might be happy that his record withstood under Raphinha’s impact.
