Omar Marmoush’s remarkable hat-trick in EPL
On 15 February, Omar Marmoush has scored a hat-trick vs Newcastle (4-0) - in the 3rd game of his English Premier League career after recent signing for Manchester City.
In the EPL history, since the 1992 rebrand, only 3 players have registered their first hat-trick in fewer appearances than the Egyptian.
Fabrizio Ravanelli is still the only one to strike a hat-trick straight on his debut (for Middlesbrough in 1996).
Clive Mendonca in 1998 and Teemu Pukki in 2019 did it on their second appearances.
Apart from the above, the Marmoush hat-trick was remarkable due to a short time needed for it. The newcomer took just 33 minutes from the kick-off to score 3 goals: it was the second-earliest hat-trick into a Premier League match for a Man City player, after Kevin De Bruyne did so in the 24th minute against Wolverhampton in May 2022.
Also, Marmoush’s hat-trick came in the time-frame of just 13 minutes 54 seconds. Only 3 Man City players (Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Raheem Sterling) took a shorter interval for scoring EPL hat-trick.
