CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - UNBEATEN RUNS
Best individual unbeaten runs in Champions League
Manchester City's 0-2 defeat to Juventus on 11 December meant that the club's centre-back Rúben Dias (PICTURE) , who took part in the match, ended his run of 24 games without defeat in the Champions League.
The Portuguese stood just two steps behind his club and country partner Bernardo Silva, who holds the tournament record (including the European Cup era) for an individual unbeaten run: 26 games from October 2018 to May 2021.
Dias missed due to injury the match that Man City had previously lost to Sporting (1-4), which then left him with a chance of breaking the record. Which he eventually couldn't use.
That defeat of Sporting ended similar streaks for his partners: Erling Haaland (24), Manuel Akanji (22) and again Bernardo Silva (23).
Here is the ranking of individual series throughout the history of the competition since 1955.
Johan Cruyff (23 games) held this record the longest, 44 years (1975 to 2009). Its further owners were Patrice Evra (24), Dani Carvajal (25) and, currently, Bernardo Silva.
