Statistics on Champions’ League group stage round 5 (November 27)

Liverpool vs Real Madrid 2-0

*Real Madrid are the first Champions League winners to lose 3 games in the group stage after winning the title.

*Real Madrid have last lost 2 consecutive UCL matches by 2+ goal difference (including 1-3 vs Milan in the previous match-day) in March 2000 (vs Bayern 2-4, 1-4).

*Liverpool have beaten Real Madrid in the Champions League for the first time since the 4-0 on 10 March 2009 (under Rafael Benitez), ending an 8-game winless run vs Los Blancos (1 draw, 7 losses). 

*Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah, with missing penalties, both also missed thus a chance to reach 50 goal mark in UCL.

* It was the 2nd penalty that Mbappé missed in UCL after the one against RB Leipzig in 2021.

*Salah is the first Liverpool player to shot wide from the spot in the Champions League. The previously missed 7 had been stopped by the goalkeepers or hit the posts.

*Juventus have fielded the youngest ever starting XI for an Italian team in a UCL match (average age 24 years 142 days), beating Milan's record against Atletico Madrid on 28 September 2021 (24 years 161 days).

PSV Eindhoven vs Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2

*PSV were 2 goals down at half time of a home UCL game for the first time since 16 September 2008 (against Atlético Madrid, also 0-2, ended 0-3).
