Stuani, La Liga’s joint-top scorer as a substitute
Cristhian Stuani (picture), coming on from bench, scored for Girona against Barcelona (1-4) in a Spanish League match on 15 September. The goal was the Uruguayan striker's 28th as a substitute in his La Liga career.
Thus, he equaled the league record in this category, held by Julio Salinas, who played from 1982 to 2000.
Only one step behind the co-record holders is Lionel Messi, who was rarely used as a sub in Barcelona, but still managed to score 27 such goals.
We present a ranking of the players who have scored the most “bench” goals.
Here GS means goals as a substitute, MS - matches as a substitute, GT - total league goals.
