RIP SVEN GORAN ERIKSSON
ERIKSSON PASSED AWAY
England's first foreign manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has passed away at the age of 76-years-old. In January, Eriksson had announced to the world that he had "at best" a year to live after being diagnosed with cancer.
Eriksson will be remembered for guiding England to three quarter finals in major tournaments with great players including Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard …, but also for multiple successful spells in domestic club football. In particular, Eriksson excelled in Serie A, with Lazio and Sampdoria, but he had also enjoyed spells in the Premier League with Manchester City and Leicester.
Eriksson had been a coach of numerous countries during his career, other than England, also managing Mexico and the Ivory Coast, as well as his last job in football as the national team manager of the Philippines. Eriksson achieved his dream of managing Liverpool in a friendly match in May 2024. The IFFHS joins the World football to mourn one of the greatest coaches in the World.
RIP Sven-Goran Eriksson.
