THE FIRST IN HISTORY

Man City are close to unbeaten run record in UCL!

Manchester City finished the 2023-24 campaign in the Champions League undefeated (being eliminated from the tournament after 2 draws and a penalty shootout vs Real Madrid).
Pep Guardiola's team never suffered a defeat also in the previous UCL edition.
Thus, Manchester City became the first team in the history of the Champions League to go through the entire season without defeat twice in a row.
The last time they lost to an opponent was on 4 May 2022. It was a semi-final match against Real Madrid (1-1 after regular 90 minutes, 1-3 after extra time).
The City's unbeaten streak in the Champions League already totals 23 games (16 wins and 7 draws): the second longest in the history of the competition. Only their neighbors Manchester United did not lose longer, 25 matches in a row (in 2007-2009).
So Guardiola's boys have a very good chance of breaking this record. To do this, it will be enough to avoid defeats in the first three matches of next season.
Notably, not taking into account extra times, Manchester City have not lost in the Champions League after 90 minutes for 29 matches in a row! This streak began after a defeat to RB Leipzig (1-2) on 7 December 2021.
